Who We Are

The APGA Security and Integrity Foundation (SIF), a non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation, is dedicated to promoting the security, operational integrity and safety of natural gas distribution and utilization facilities. The SIF focuses its resources on enhancing the ability of gas utility operators to prevent, mitigate and repair damage to the nation’s small gas distribution infrastructure.

Although economies of scale favor large systems, small propane or natural gas companies and systems are very conscientious and dedicated to maintaining records of safety and operational excellence. The safety records of our nation’s smallest operators continue to be identical to that of the largest operators even as the cost of compliance increases.  Due to a strong partnership with industry and exceptional regulatory knowledge, the SIF is able to provide comprehensive and economically sound compliance options for propane and natural gas companies and systems.  These programs include education, training, qualification, and online services and tools specifically designed to increase the knowledge, skill and abilities of small distribution system and master meter system operators.

The SIF is proud to deliver programs and services to the industry through a cooperative agreement with the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration, (PHMSA), and working closely with the National Association of Pipeline Safety Representatives (NAPSR) and other pipeline safety organizations.
